* The ASA charges a one time certification fee of $39 for new students, which must be added to all 101 class prices.

A customary gratuity for the instructor is not included in quoted prices, but is most appreciated for a job well done.


 ASA 101:  Basic Keelboat Sailing

A comprehensive course for the beginning sailor.  No prerequisite.

Using the boat hook.Plan to spend two fun filled days on the water, as both skipper and crew, learning the basics of sailing including:  nomenclature, sailing theory, points of sail, sail trim, tacking and jibing, docking, safety equipment, rules of the road, basic knots, crew overboard, and safe boating practices.

Upon completion, you will be able to sail a boat of about 20 feet in length in light to moderate conditions in familiar waters without supervision.  It is a recognized National Association of Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) and US Coast Guard Safe Boating Course and meets all requirements for mandatory education and licensing for every state in the US.

2 day class includes all course materials, ASA log book, and certificate of completion.  Reservations are secured with a 50% deposit and a signed application form.  Balance is due 30 days prior to class date.

 ASA 103:  Basic Coastal Cruising

For the sailor with some experience.  Prerequisite:  ASA101

Trimming the sails.This course is designed to refine your basic sailing skills and make you a more competent and proficient sailor.  Expand upon your basic keelboat (BKB) knowledge over another fun filled and challenging 2 days aboard a fully fitted cruising sloop.  Refine your sail handling and learn: weather forecasting and interpretation, chart reading and navigation, boat handling under sail and power, skipper and crew duties, and much more.  

Upon completion, you will be able to skipper and crew a sailboat of about 20 to 30 feet in length in moderate conditions in local and regional waters.

2 day class includes all course materials, ASA log book, and certificate of completion.  Reservations are secured with a 50% deposit and a signed application form.  Balance is due 30 days prior to class date.

 ASA 104:  Bareboat Chartering

For sailors with experience on cruising sailboats.  Prerequisite:  ASA101, ASA103

Learning to sail.If your dream is to charter or bareboat a cruising sailboat, this is the course for you.  Refine your sail handling skills and learn about living aboard, extended cruise planning, boat systems and troubleshooting, ground tackle and anchoring, chart reading and course plotting, provisioning, and more.

This is intermediate coastal cruising for individuals with cruising experience.  Upon completion, you will be able to skipper or crew a sailboat of 30 to 50 feet by day in coastal waters.  Includes knowledge of boat systems and maintenance procedures.

3 day class includes lodging onboard, provisions, all course materials, ASA log book, and certificate of completion.  Reservations are secured with a 50% deposit and a signed application form.  Balance is due 30 days prior to class date.

 ASA 105:  Coastal Navigation

Home study course.  No prerequisite.

Taking the exam.Upon completion, you will be able to demonstrate the navigational theory required to safely navigate a sailing vessel in coastal or inland waters.  There is no sailing skills part to this course.

At home study class includes all course materials, step by step DVD, ASA log book, and certificate of completion.  A signed application form with full payment in advance is required for this class.

 Introduction to Sailing Combo

Includes ASA101 and ASA103.  No prerequisite.

At the helm.Maximize a long weekend (3 days) and cover all material in the ASA Basic Keelboat and ASA Basic Coastal Cruising courses.  The best value for the beginning sailor.

3 day class includes all course materials, ASA log book, and certificate of completion.  Reservations are secured with a 50% deposit and a signed application form.  Balance is due 30 days prior to class date.

 Coastal & Bareboat Chartering Combo Kaya in Key Largo, FL.

Includes ASA103 and ASA104.  Prerequisite:  ASA101

Enhance and extend your basic sailing skills to the coastal and bareboat environs by taking Basic Coastal Cruising and Bareboat Chartering.  Spend 4 action packed days living aboard a cruising class sailboat.  The best value for the experienced sailor who wants to advance his skill.

4 day class includes lodging onboard, provisions, all course materials, ASA log book, and certificate of completion.  Reservations are secured with a 50% deposit and a signed application form.  Balance is due 30 days prior to class date.

 Basic through Bareboat Combo

Includes ASA101, ASA103, and ASA104.  Sailing experience required as a prerequisite.

Getting ready to raise the sail.An action packed and fun filled full week of intensive training.  Live aboard a 40' cruising sailboat and challenge yourself by taking 3 ASA courses (Basic Keelboat, Basic Coastal Cruising, and Bareboat Chartering) in 7 days on the water.  Upon completion, you will be certified to bareboat a sailboat in the 30' to 50' range.  The best value for the sailor with experience.

7 day class includes lodging onboard, provisions, all course materials, ASA log book, and certificate of completion.  Reservations are secured with a 50% deposit and a signed application form.  Balance is due 30 days prior to class date.

 Custom Eco-tours / Marine Science Program

John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park Entrance Sign.Sail to the spectacular John Pennekamp State Park to see and explore one of the most unique underwater ecosystems in the world.  During your Eco-tour, learn what makes the underwater world  below you so unique.  You’ll gain an appreciation for the intimate relationships between coral reefs and the rest of the diverse habitats of the Keys.  When you see a fish in the water you don’t quite recognize, we’ll teach you key characteristics to look for so you can identify it later.  Children will be able to refresh the lessons they learned in school and even prepare for future classes.  By the end of your trip you’ll have a better understanding of what makes the Keys so special and ecologically important.

Each Eco-tour is designed to stand alone or add on to your sailing course.  Children are welcome, so this is a great way for a family to spend time together on the water.  Eco-tours can run from half day to multiple day trips.  Please contact us directly for a custom quote.

If you are an avid snorkeler or diver, we can customize your class to include one or more days of diving or snorkeling.  We offer a Divemaster to assist you during dives, or learn proper snorkeling techniques from our NAUI (National Association of Underwater Instructors) certified Skin Diving Instructor.  We’ll help you find various sea life including some of the macro life some people commonly overlook.  Please contact us directly for a custom quote and we will match your course to your in the water goals.
