New friends.

Dinner with Capt. Pete.

"What an awesome weekend!  We had such a great time.  You did a good job picking another compatible couple with us.  They were lots of fun.  Look forward to seeing you in PC in the future."  Chris & Melissa, GA (June 2008)

Learning the tiller.Enjoying the sail."We wanted to thank you for a great three days aboard your sailboat and in your sailing school. Your instruction was relaxed and thorough.  You instilled tremendous confidence in ourselves that we can go out and sail our boat wherever we want and we intend to do just that.  We had a wonderful time meeting you and sincerely appreciate your advice, your experience, and your obvious passion for sailing.  We hope to see you again out on the water enjoying the 'salt life.'  Thanks for everything."  Christine & Jeff, AL (May 2008)

Removing the sail cover.

"Hi Capt. Pete – thanks so much for a great weekend!  We really enjoyed it and learned a lot.  The relaxed atmosphere helped us learn the boat and bay as we actively did things on board.  We look forward to seeing you again in June!"  Eric & Kristen, GA (April 2008)

Learning to sail.

"Jenna and I really enjoyed the last two classes.  She is on fire and has told everyone about what she learned.  It has been a long time since I attended a class I learned so much from.  I’ve got to get to sailing so I don’t forget what you taught us."  Matt, AL (April 2008)

Learning to sail.

"Thank you very much for the great sailing Friday and Saturday.
Your instruction was terrific and we both learned many new things that made the class valuable.  Neither of us would have been able to do the MOB exercise had you not simplified the entire process in advance.  You also do a great job with the condition of your boats.
Stephen and I are already looking forward to returning in the future
..."  Rob and Stephen, GA (April 2008)

Taking the helm.

"Thanks Capt.  Had a ball and learned a lot."  Tom, IN (March 2008)

A nice redfish.     Bringing in a redfish.     A sheephead and a redfish.

A great time fishing for William from Atlanta.  (March 2008)

Cool weather for the first day's sailing.

Warm and sunny fo the second day's sailing.

"Had a great time in your course, you made it look easy, you're a good teacher.  Let me digest what I have learned, and I will be back for more courses."  Jim, FL (March 2008)

"Hi Capt Pete, thanks for the photo's and I had a great time sailing with you and Jim as well, hope to take the next course with you in the near future."  Russ, PA

Students learning to sail.

The March weather has been a little wild this year.  We have gone from bundled to shirtsleeves more than usual.  Plus the winds have been unusually strong.  Fortunately, we are beginning to see our more normal warm sunshine and ideal sailing.  (March 2008)

Popping the question on a sunset sail.

Our best wishes to Andy and Megan who got engaged while enjoying a sunset cruise!  (December 2007)

Learning to sail.

"... a brief note to thank you for the excellent course.  I would be happy to recommend your school to anyone interested in learning to sail or further improving their sailing skills.  Not only did the course deliver the instruction and hands-on training promised, it was great fun and a nice introduction to life on a cruising boat thanks to our friendly host and captain.

As promised, since we were your first Finnish students, a brief note in Finnish:  Kiitokset hyvästä kurssista!  Voin vilpittömästi suositella Kapteeni Peten koulua purjehduksesta kiinnostuneille. Translation... Thank you for the good course!  I can sincerely recommend Captain Pete's school for anyone interested in sailing."  Petri, GA (November 2007)

On the boat at St. Andrews Marina."I have been sailing the lakes of the midwest for a number of years and wanted to get the certifications needed to bareboat charter in the future.  I didn't expect to learn much in the way of new material, but with Capt. Pete I can safely say I learned more than I bargained for.  He was able to teach a beginner together with an experienced sailor without losing the interest of either and to the benefit of both.  And in the process I think my family and I made some new friends in Florida.  Capt. Pete and Tish's hospitality seemed boundless.  We can't wait to come back and finish next year."  Ronn, Tracey, & Roland, IA (November 2007)

Students going over a test.

"Just a quick note to say thanks again for the great experience with Reef Runner Sailing.  I learned everything that I hoped for and now have the confidence to charter a bareboat.  The hands-on learning and your careful attention to my personal training needs made all the difference.  I’m very happy that there were only three students in the class and the Island Packet yacht was fantastic.  I’ll be sure to recommend your school to my friends – whatever their skill level – and will come back for any additional advanced training for myself.  Thanks again!"  Jeff, FL (October 2007)

Greg with his new boat!

"Capt. Pete, Just a quick note to tell you thanks again for the GREAT day of sailing! and also for hangin' in there with us, we couldn't have done it without you."  Greg, AL (October 2007)

Congratulations to Greg of Enterprise, AL, proud owner of his first project sailboat, a 28’ Irwin classic!

Sisters raising the jib.

A dad with his daughters learning to sail."Capt Pete, just wanted to thank you for your time and patience during our sailing course last week.  We plan to sail again with you soon, but even if we did not, the memories from last week are priceless."  Mike, AL (October 2007)

"We had so much fun. Ashley wanted to stay longer but she didn't speak up Friday. She is ready to go out to sea! Much braver than I am.  I never in my life thought I would actually sail a sail boat much less really enjoy doing it.  Thanks again and I can't wait to come back!"  Michelle, AL (October 2007)

"Pete, you were an awesome instructor and Captain.  I really enjoyed hanging out for the weekend."  Richard, GA (September 2007)

"Man, we had a great time during the sailing courses and hangin' out with the Captain!  Thanks for making it so much fun!"  Mark, GA (September 2007)

"Let me say thank you again for a wonderful three days of instruction for my family of five!  The 101 Basic Keelboat Sailing and 103 Basic Coastal Cruising were perfect as an introduction to sailing.  Even my wife and youngest daughter say this was a great family activity, though they were skeptical at first.  We're now looking forward to the next opportunity for additional instruction."  Chris, VA (August 2007)

"Lauren and I had a great time over the past two days.  Captain Glenn was excellent.  He made the experience a very enjoyable learning opportunity.  We could not have expected a better experience from Glenn.  My compliments to you for having him as a part of your sailing school."  Ronnie, AL (July 2007)

"The class was great and Capt. Rick did an excellent job as our instructor.  He was very thorough and kept the knowledge flowing with great examples and sidebars during the classes.  I will recommend him and your school to anyone looking for a start in the ASA classes. ... We had a wonderful time sailing in the bay which gave us many opportunities to discuss and handle right of way rules, other sailboats to discuss points of sail, tack, etc.  Even had a couple of large ships pass by that we got to stay away from.  It was a wonderful learning experience!"  Don & Karen, CO (July, 2007)

"If you are interested in a sailing school I'd recommend American Sailing Association schools, and in particular...Reef Runner in Panama City...  Capt. Pete is very good.  He explained everything very clearly.  He challenged us to think by asking us what we would do in different circumstances, but he always made sure we understood before moving on.  There was plenty of sailing time.  It was all hands on and practical.  He was very thorough.  After we took the written tests he would go over any question that we missed, which I thought was going the extra mile to make sure we got as much out of the course as possible.  He made sure we knew why we missed a question and what the correct answer was.  There were 3 students, including myself taking the class, so we weren't crowded and had plenty of one on one.  We had plenty of time to complete all the skills requirements.  We were never rushed.  We all did well on the written test which I think is a reflection on his instruction."  Rick, AL (May 2007)
